About the Owner
Born in Belgium in 1957 into a family of brewers, Ignace Lootens quickly developed a passion for hospitality. After graduating in 1978 from the renowned Hotelschool Ter Duinen, he gained valuable experience through internships in France, England, Germany, and Sweden.

In 1993, he opened Hotel Oxalis, followed by Loxley Cottage in 1995 and De Meidoorn in 2010. Each project reflected his dedication to creating warm, welcoming places for travelers.

In 2025, a new chapter began in Albania, where he started a fresh journey with the opening of Hostel Calao in Shkodër — blending decades of expertise with a spirit of renewal.
